On January 31st this year I taught my 5th yoga class at One Flow Yoga. This date is special for me as it marks the 35th anniversary of the day I arrived in California.

I was born into a large working family in rural Ireland, and like many young women at the time, more out of necessity than choice. I moved to London where I began my education and career as a nurse.

I was drawn to the practice of yoga (specifically power vinyasa) about 17 years ago. I loved everything about it, especially the physical practice and the heat.

Yoga provided the perfect work out and a brief reprieve from challenging work, and active family life. However, in the beginning my practice was one dimensional, as it was all about the asanas.

With consistent practice over the course of time, I noticed both a shift in myself and how the practice was helping me personally and professionally.

I became better able to navigate both the challenges on the mat, and in daily life. I could see my process as one of continuous change, and I was curious to learn more.

This led me to completing my first yoga teacher training in early 2017, and actively teaching, assisting, and volunteering until the pandemic happened.

In November 2024, after a privileged career caring for people for 35 years, I retired from nursing.

Today, my nursing education and experience informs my teaching, as well as my own practice.

Mindfully exploring yoga postures, my focus is on creating a solid foundation, balanced breath, and a calm mind.

Through yoga, we learn to grow the gifts given to each one of us. My intention is to share what I know, so that you may over time reap the same benefits that I have:  better physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing.

I am delighted to have the opportunity to share yoga practice with you at One Flow
